There have been various rumors regarding Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s comeback into the Bollywood industry. Previous reports stated that she already agreed to work on an action thriller film and fans are excited to see her on the big screen again.
After being out of the Bollywood scene for about three years after getting married and having baby Aaradhya, the former Miss World is ready to get back into it. Rai will be see in Sanjay Gupta’s film “Jazbaa” and he reveals why he chose the actress to star in his film.
“I chose Aishwarya because India is a completely male-driven society and so is its cinema. The lead protagonist in my film is a woman, and therefore it was imperative that I cast someone with the right historic capabilities as well as strong shoulder to carry the film,” said Gupta to Variety. “The fact that this will be the first film in nearly five years with which she returns to the cinema screens is an added bonus.”
The contemporary thriller is set in modern day Mumbai and features Irrfan Khan as a lawyer, Shabana Azmi as a suspended cop and Rai as a school teacher.
The film is expected to hit floors in mid-January and the first look will be revealed at Cannes, which will start the promotions for its August or September release worldwide.
Gupta previously revealed that there wouldn’t be any romance in the film, but it “culminates on a note where you get a feeling that Aishwarya and Irrfan’s equation might develop into a relationship later.”
Rai doesn’t want to reveal too much about the movie and apparently wants the film to be edgy, dark and with very few songs, but the director has other plans and wants an item number, which surprised the actress.
