From actor Kareena Kapoor Khan in a pinstriped suit by Ashish N Soni to actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wearing Roberto Cavalli to celebrate her birthday – desi fashionistas are rocking the trend. “Kareena’s suited look is one of my favourite looks of hers, of all times. It’s nice to see her pick up the three-piece suit instead of a conventional gown,” says designer Masaba Gupta. “Kareena skipped the shirt altogether to perk up her tux-look, which added to the glam factor,” adds designer Jenjum Gadi. Black might be the go-to option, but Kalki Koechlin added colour to her suited look. The designer of her neo-tux, Nikhil Thampi, told us: “The power suit has become an iconic silhouette being sported by powerful women of our times, and the trend is here to stay. Keeping the styling sleek and minimal is the best way to ace this look.” Wondering how to adapt it to your personality? “Make the look trendy by wearing a T-shirt inside, instead of a shirt, and finish with a pair of trainers with metallic accents. You could even opt for a feminine blouse to wear under the tux,” says designer Namrata Joshipura. -
