After being out of the Bollywood scene for about three years after getting married and having baby Aaradhya, the former Miss World is ready to get back into it. However, before she starts filming for her comeback film, she is spending a lot of quality time with her family during the holidays.
According to Bollywood Life, Rai and her husband Abhishek Bachchan recently took their daughter for a special meeting with Santa Clause. The three of them appeared to be on a nice family vacation while posing for a picture with the big guy. While Rai and Abhishek posed with smiles on their face, Aaradhya, was carried in her mom’s arms with an uninterested pout.
Aaradhya got two big presents for Christmas, which hopefull turned that frown upside down.
In the mean time, Rai is expected to start filming for her comeback movie “Jazbaa” in mid-January. The first look will be revealed at Cannes, which will start the promotions for its August or September release worldwide.
The contemporary thriller is set in modern day Mumbai and features Irrfan Khan as a lawyer, Shabana Azmi as a suspended cop and Rai as a school teacher.
Sanjay Gupta previously revealed that there wouldn’t be any romance in the film, but it “culminates on a note where you get a feeling that Aishwarya and Irrfan’s equation might develop into a relationship later.”
Rai doesn’t want to reveal too much about the movie and apparently wants the film to be edgy, dark and with very few songs, but the director has other plans and wants an item number, which surprised the actress.
“I chose Aishwarya because India is a completely male-driven society and so is its cinema. The lead protagonist in my film is a woman, and therefore it was imperative that I cast someone with the right historic capabilities as well as strong shoulder to carry the film,” said Gupta to Variety. “The fact that this will be the first film in nearly five years with which she returns to the cinema screens is an added bonus.”
